Linda Margaret Faulkner

Linda Margaret Faulkner passed away January 9, 2016 surrounded by her entire family after a brief but brave battle with cancer. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Linda was predeceased by her parents, Rose and Charlie Cunningham. She now watches over her cherished family: husband Dale, daughter Lori Homynyk [Jeff], son Ken Faulkner [Jillian], four grandchildren- Sydney, Stephen, Ethan and Owen and one very special King Charles Cavalier Spaniel named Shelby. Soft spoken, loving, selfless and deeply passionate, Linda lived a life dedicated to her family. Linda met her true love and soulmate Dale over a CB radio in the spring of 1966. They eloped in August 1968 and have been inseparable for over 47 years. Mom was a homemaker extraordinaire. Her talents were beyond a world class culinarian and as a self-taught seamstress, she created and designed Klondike and Halloween costumes, Irish Feis dresses, bridal and maternity wear, theme shirts, and designer drapes. Her creativity led to an annual, in-home show and sale of hand sewn Christmas angels, Mr. & Mrs. Claus dolls and Rodney & Roxanne reindeer mantel pieces. She loved to design and create which was evident in her sewing and knitting - each stitch made with love. Mom was a mentor to all of us, teaching us remarkable skills and further showing commitment to all living things by being a mid-wife to many litters of family pets. Family celebrations were always big events in our home with none more exciting than St. Patrick’s Day where Mom’s pride in her Irish heritage shone through and everyone was treated to a home filled with Leprechauns, four leaf clovers, green food and drink and countless happy memories. In recent years, Mom made an additional home for us in Henderson, Nevada. From the moment she walked in the front door, she loved it there. She always cherished relaxing with very special friends just two doors down as well as regular visits from family, filling this second home with love and laughter. Linda shared Dale’s passion for classic cars which took them across the US to many car shows; a big highlight this past summer was the great pride and joy in winning a Triple Crown Award for their 1968 Shelby. While on these numerous trips, she particularly enjoyed the company and hospitality of new and dear friends at the restoration shop in North Carolina. Through everything in life, Linda’s hero was Dale. She loved him deeply and without reservation, showing it to everyone, every single day. Dale loved her right back with equal strength and passion – simply stated - to know her was to love her. We are all incredibly blessed with everything she loved – family, friends and life. Linda - wonderful Wife, Mom and Gramma - is dearly missed. The family wishes to thank the staff at Grey Nuns Hospital for their compassionate care.
